  • What's The Overall Moving Process?

Our Professional Moving Process: The Bears Moving Co. Way

Moving is a major life event, but it doesn't have to be a stressful one. At Bears Moving Co., we’ve refined our process to ensure your belongings are handled with precision from the first call to the final box.

    1. The Strategy & Quote

Everything starts with a clear plan. We’ll discuss the size of your move, any specialty items (like heavy safes or delicate antiques), and your timeline. Because we value transparency, we provide clear estimates so there are no surprises on moving day.

    2. Professional Preparation

On the day of the move, our uniformed, background-checked crew arrives on time and ready to work. We begin by protecting your home—using floor runners and doorframe protectors—and then meticulously wrap your furniture in high-quality moving blankets and shrink wrap to prevent any scratches or damage.

    3. Precision Loading

We don't just "throw things in a truck." Our team uses advanced "Tetris-style" loading techniques to maximize space and ensure the load is balanced and secure for transport. As a licensed and insured company, we take the safety of your cargo seriously.

    4. Safe Transit

Our late-model, well-maintained trucks are equipped with air-ride suspension to ensure a smooth journey across Atlanta or across the state. Our drivers are experienced with Georgia’s roads and committed to getting your items to their destination on schedule.

    5. Seamless Unloading & Setup

Upon arrival at your new home, we don't just drop boxes at the door. We place every piece of furniture exactly where you want it. If we disassembled any beds or tables at the start of the day, we’ll reassemble them perfectly before we leave.

    6. Final Walkthrough

Before we head out, we perform a final walkthrough with you to ensure every item is accounted for and placed correctly. Your satisfaction is our priority—it’s how we maintain our BBB A+ reputation.

  • How do we charge?

Our Simple & Transparent PricingAt Bears Moving Co., we believe in honest pricing with no hidden fees. We use a straightforward hourly structure that ensures you only pay for the time you actually use.

    The Hourly Structure

    • Set Hourly Minimum: Every move starts with a set minimum charge (typically covers the first 2 or 3 hours of service). This covers our mobilization, fuel, and the initial setup of your move.
    • Simple Hourly Billing: Once the minimum is met, we transition to a simple hourly rate, billed in [30]-min or [1]-hr increments. This means if your move takes 15 minutes past the hour, you aren't charged for a full 60 minutes.

    What’s Included in the Rate?

Unlike "budget" movers, our hourly rate is all-inclusive of the professional standards you expect from a BBB A+ Accredited company:

    • A Professional Crew: Uniformed, background-checked, and highly trained movers.
    • Full Equipment: Use of our moving truck, dollies, hand trucks, and specialized tools.
    • Furniture Protection: Thick moving blankets and shrink wrap are provided to protect your items at no extra cost.
    • Disassembly & Reassembly: We’ll take apart your beds and tables at the origin and put them back together at your new home.
    • Peace of Mind: You are protected by our full licensing and insurance as a member of the Georgia Movers Association.

  • Should you tip movers?

    The Mover's Guide to Tipping

    1. Is it required?

No. At Bears Moving Co., our crew is paid a professional wage to provide excellent service. A tip is a "thank you" for a job well done, but it is entirely at the customer’s discretion.

    2. What is the "Standard" amount?

In the Atlanta area and across the moving industry, here are the general benchmarks:

    • The Percentage Rule: 10% to 20% of the total move cost, divided among the crew.
    • The Hourly/Flat Rule: Many customers prefer to tip $5 to $10 per hour, per mover, or a flat $40 to $60 per mover for a full day’s work.

    3. When should you tip more?

Customers often choose to tip on the higher end if the move involved:

    • Extreme Conditions: Moving in 95-degree Georgia heat or pouring rain.
    • Difficulty: Navigating those "thousand-turn" apartment hallways or several flights of stairs.
    • Extra Effort: Helping with last-minute packing or moving exceptionally heavy items like pianos or safes.

    4. Non-Monetary Tipping

If a customer is on a tight budget, "tipping" in other ways is always appreciated by the crew:

    • Providing cold Gatorades or bottled water.
    • Offering to buy lunch (pizza or sandwiches) for the team.
    • The Best Tip: Leaving a 5-star review on Google or Yelp and specifically mentioning the movers' names. For a local business like ours, that review is worth its weight in gold!

  • Do we Take TV's off the wall?

    YES!!!

    Our TV Process:

    • Safe Removal: Our crew is trained to carefully dismount TVs of all sizes from wall mounts. We ensure the screen is protected and the mounting hardware is kept together so nothing gets lost.

  • Do you assemble and disassemble beds?

The answer is a resounding YES! At Bears Moving Co., we know that the last thing you want to do after a long day of moving is hunt for a wrench to put your bed together.

We include basic disassembly and reassembly of standard beds as part of our professional service. As an A+ BBB rated company, we believe that a "full-service move" means your home should be functional the moment we leave.

    How We Handle Your Beds:

    • Efficiency: Our crew arrives with a full toolkit to quickly and safely take apart bed frames, headboards, and footboards.
    • Hardware Security: We don’t just toss screws in a box. We secure all hardware in specialized bags and tape them directly to the frame parts so nothing goes missing in transit.
    • Expert Reassembly: Once we arrive at your new home, we’ll put the bed back together exactly where you want it, ensuring it’s sturdy and ready for a good night's sleep.

  • Do you have to remove items from dressers?

The Dresser Policy: To Empty or Not to Empty?

At Bears Moving Co., our goal is to move your furniture as safely and efficiently as possible. When it comes to dressers, here is our professional recommendation:

The General Rule: Yes, please empty them.

For the safety of your furniture and our movers, we generally ask that you remove all items from dresser drawers. Here is why:

    • Weight & Safety: A solid wood dresser is heavy on its own. When filled with clothes and items, it can become dangerously heavy, making it difficult to maneuver around tight Atlanta corners or up flights of stairs.
    • Structural Integrity: Dressers are not designed to be moved while loaded. The weight of the contents can put a strain on the drawer glides and the frame of the piece when it is tilted or turned, potentially causing damage.
    • Item Protection: Items inside drawers can shift, slide, or fall behind the drawers during transit, which can lead to broken items or jammed drawers.

  • Do you work with sleep number beds?

Moving a Sleep Number or other air-chamber bed requires a bit more care than a standard mattress, but as a professional, A+ BBB rated company, the answer is YES—we absolutely work with them!

Because these beds have air pumps, hoses, and sensitive electronics, we follow a specific process to ensure they arrive at your new home in perfect working order.

    Moving Your Sleep Number Bed

We understand that a Sleep Number bed is a significant investment in your sleep quality. Here is how Bears Moving Co. handles these specialty beds:

Our Process for a Safe Move:

    1. Air Adjustment: Before we arrive, we ask that you use your remote to "Firm" or "Fill" the bed to its maximum setting. This protects the internal air chambers from being kinked or folded.
    2. Safe Disconnection: Our crew will carefully disconnect the air hoses and power source, ensuring the pump is packed separately and securely to prevent damage to the sensitive electronics.
    3. Component Protection: We don’t just wrap the mattress; we ensure the air chambers, base components, and the "Brain" (the pump) are individually protected with professional-grade moving blankets and shrink wrap.
    4. Reassembly: Once we arrive at your new home, we will re-set the base and place the mattress. However, for the final connection of the air hoses and the internal "tucking" of the chambers, we recommend the homeowner perform the final sync to ensure the comfort settings are exactly where you want them.
